You make good points. I guess the only comment I have is that the Democrats have only been in total control of the federal government for relatively short periods of time, and they have been hampered by the aggressive attack the right has made upon the Courts. What’s more is that many of the best ways to address these problems would be done at the state level, and Democratic control of the states varies… by state (no pun intended). Nevertheless, more can be done. The best thing to do is to keep pushing the party to do more — as you have been doing. The challenge is balancing this pressure against the ability of the party to win in an often difficult environment. Even if the Democrats win 100% of the African-American vote, which they very nearly do, and turnout goes up dramatically, that would not be enough to win. In that case, we are left with Republicans in charge who are downright hostile to our agenda.
