There isn’t a woman I knew who came of age during that era — including my wife and sister — who doesn’t have a story that is at least a scary experience if not outright sexual assault. At least now many of us are outraged when we see examples of male privilege run wild — think the sentence of the Stanford swim team rapist Brock Turner. Back then, we didn’t even think anything of such outrageous displays of privilege. For what it’s worth, I guess that passes for progress, but then we have an experience like the Kavanaugh hearings that reminds us how far we have yet to go.
