One of my political mentors used to say that politics is a game of addition, not subtraction. It still amszes me how some activists treat their politics as a sandbox they want to keep everyone else out of. The only way to win is to build a movement of people who might have differing views. Ideological purity is the realm of the powerless, and power is what allows you to get good things done.
